Candle flicker effect

Hi

Anybody how I could create a realistic candle flicker effect for a RGB par can

Not sure where to start

You will need to play with it to see the real world results but I would suggest two effects running.

Effect 1:
Colormix swing FX.
Add 2 or 3 colors. Usually something like Red, Orange and maybe a light orange.
Set the FX rate to be random
Increase the rate to something that looks quite fast.
You may wish to reduce the overlap a little.

Effect 2:
Is very similar but you will create an intensity swing FX.
Add some intensities. Perhaps 0%,70%,25%,100%
Set the FX rate to be random
Increase the rate to something that looks quite fast.
You may wish to reduce the overlap a little.
You may also want to play with the curves of each step.

As mentioned, you will need to play around with it quite a bit, but you should get something very close by using these two effects on top of each other.

How do you set the FX rate to random? I wasn’t aware you could do this?

I build these sorts of effects all the time and have always had to do it as random chasers which is extremely time consuming. What would be really good is if there was a random swing point option for swing effects.

You could even apply and then edit the “twinkle” factory effect.
