Is there a way to make custom effects other than the generic Bally Hoo, circle, and the other shapes? For example, in animating software like Blender, you can set a keyframe for an objects position at frame 0, and then go to frame 10 and set a new keyframe for that object, and it will move from the first position to the second when the animation is played. Is there a way to do something like this in Vista?
Yes what you are describing is Swing FX
With swing FX you can create steps (like key frames) and use presets as the content of those steps
This allows you to totally customise what your FX are doing over any paramiter
Here is a link to one of my tutorials using swing FX
What if I needed a bunch of steps? Would I just have to make a ton of presets? Thanks for your help!
You can have as many steps as you want and can fill those steps with any content you want there is no limit you dont technically need to use presets you could use raw data but its harder to update later if you wanted too
I have this list of colors that are assigned to a group of fixtures, and now I want to have specific fixtures on for each color. What’s the best way to do that? I tried to do a swing effect with intensity, but nothing is happening. Thanks for the help!
If you go to the advanced tab, you can add in an intensity control inside of the same effect. If you have the same number of steps in both tabs, they will sync up in playback allowing both effects to correspond, so adding the same number of intensity effects will give you a sync between the two features. I can send a video if you like.
A video would be awesome! Thank you!
Let me just make sure I know what you’re talking about. You want to be able to do an effect where certain fixtures turn off and on depending on color? So
All fixtures red, light 1,3,6 come on? (For example)
Yes, exactly!
Gotcha. Let me work on a solution for you
