Our computer died that we have run Vista Chroma Q. I installed the software on the new computer. the lights keep shutting off every few minutes, which means it’s not recognizing our universe or license or something. I have tried everything I can think of. Anyone have some suggestions?
Most likely yes, this is probably due to the license dongle (small little USB device similar to a thumb drive) not being connected/recognized by the new computer. The license dongle is what authenticates the computer to run Vista; without it, the lights will blackout for about 5-10 seconds every 5 minutes or so.
First things first: can you locate your license dongle and confirm that it is plugged into a USB port on the new computer? The dongle will look something like this:
Do you have a physical Vista console? Is there a physical board like an EX or MV (pictured below) that is connected to the console? If so, then the license dongle might be inside of the board, connected to one of the internal USB ports. In that case, we would just have a connectivity issue between the board and the computer.
With that information we will be able to make progress towards a solution.
