Looking for a Vista programmer/contractor to do some work at our church

Hi,

I’ve been tasked to find someone with experience in programming/setting up a Vista based lighting system. Our church is running Vista 2 that was setup 8+ years ago and no one really knows how to program it. We’re having a problem with some custom chandeliers and need to confirm if they’re programmed correctly so we can troubleshoot problems with the LED drivers or modules. We have some random lights that are out. Might also like to have the system updated to the latest software version.

We’re in the SF Bay area. Please reach out if you can help or know someone that I can contact.

Thanks/Livius

Hey! If you could send your show file over I’d be happy to help you out

I can’t get over there but I would be happy to help out

Hi Jackson. Appreciate the help. It’ll take me a bit to get over there and copy it. I don’t really know anything about the Vista environment. I was asked by leadership to take a look due to my techy background, did some googling and watched a couple of intro videos and noticed some indescrepencies when looking into our setup.

Thanks/Livius

Yeah for sure! I’d love to help you out and I think if you send your shofile over I could make some presets and fix things that are messy! by any chance are you running a physical Jands console or a Jands M1? The M1 can be updated with the new Vista 3 R5 but if it is a Jands console with a linux computer built in it’ll be a bit harder to update it to Vista 3 and I wouldn’t do it.

Recently (like in the last 6 months) I have installed a Jands Vista i3 at a small private school and I run an MA3 light at my church but we used to run a Jands Vista L5

Would be super happy to help you out!

Awesome. I do know that Vista is running on a windows machine. I’ll make a note of the console being used. Any other modules you need to know about? We have several on/off switches that control the chandeliers. I can take some pics of those as well.

What are you meaning when you say modules?

I don’t know the system architecture, how it integrates into the wall switches. Does the computer connect to the console and then wall switches connect to the console or are there network switches involved? Hence modules of the system.

Hi Livius,

I have worked with Vista 2 systems extensively.
Happy to take a look at your current programming and help isolate whether the issue is with the system or the hardware.

You can reach out to me on my email here

Typically we have a DMX run from Vista to the Wall Panels then we can save presets on the wall panels; your system could have been built like that. We can either confirm it works like that by answering the simple question: Does the wall panel decide if the control from Vista is taken or not?

Thanks Colin, will reach out via email.

@Jackson, I have no idea. Will have to investigate. Hopefully with @Colin2. Can you tell from looking at the scene file?

No, I believe that you would simply push a button on the wall panel then it would switch to using the Vista’s data

I have too, but if you want to take over it sounds like you may have a little bit more experience than me

@Jackson I’m not wanting to have anyone take over it’s just that, for some reason, I was thinking that Colin was local and can come onsite with me. Haven’t heard back if that’s the case. I’ll still share the scene file once I get over there and retrieve it.

No you’re fine and if he’s local it’d be a much easier process if he is. It’s just harder to do remotely; you might want to reach out to a company like Churchfront or Pro Church Lights or some other installer in your city!

How would I find someone to come out to our church as well, who is qualified to train in the Vista lighting software/programming? Does Vista have resources?

There are many Vista resources on Youtube if you are running Vista 3, if you are running Vista 2 but have the opportunity to update to Vista 3 take it! Vista 3 is much better just doesn’t have many console options
