Really could use some help! My L5 is currently out of commission in the middle of a show weekend. Everything powers up, but no video, and there are two hard beeps on start up. Tried moving a single ram stick around but no dice. Tried even booting with no ram, and the beeping stopped. CMOS battery has also been replaced (was a recent issue). It has an ssd, but recently would randomly black screen to the bios asking for a boot device. Though after it recovering, the deeper issues mentioned above started happening. Is this a full motherboard replacement issue? Or could all of my ram be faulty?
I’m not sure what motherboard it is but POST beeps like that are usually error codes that indicate some kind of hardware failure. Of course the beeps stop without ram cause a computer cannot even post without it. I would suspect the ram first though and try to replace that. If you can find the model number of the mobo, try looking up the manual online for the beep codes.
Appreciate the feedback. Going to try different ram since it seems all the ram could have gone bad. My other thought was the memory controller itself. Unfortunately there’s only a serial number visible on the motherboard. Anyone have experience in ripping out the motherboard? lol..
Have you tried a clean install of Windows and then Vista? That solved a bunch of problems we were having with our L5.
