the topic was already raised but in 2019 and was closed. I switched from 2 to the latest 3 version and there is still no green marker on the active preset. Is it known when the bug will be fixed or how it can be circumvented to see what preset was used.

As Ben mentioned in VSR-1461: That feature in Vista 2 was actually broken and was causing some internal issues in other places of the code. It was removed to be rewritten/replaced with a more robust and useful feature in a future build.
Your +1 has been added to VST-4306
In the meantime, you can open the “output” window and see what preset a fixture is currently using.
